Se7en

The beginning of this film is great inspiration for our trailer.
Particularly the close up images and the fact that a journal is kept with all the details in it.
You don't see the person making the journal so not too much is given away.
*Black and white photographs of he crime scene
*UV light for fingerprints creates a blue tint
*Grey and green are prominent colours
*Tree shaped air fresheners hung from the ceiling to disguise the smell?
*Police officers not dressed in uniform but suits
*Enemy shown out of focus
*Dark room with red light.
*Pictures of dead bodies being developed
*Props - torches, guns, plastic bags for evidence, tape recorder
*Close-ups

Lighting and Camera Angles

Plan B
There are interesting aspects in this video that could work well in our teaser trailer.
The lighting for example creates shadows and is very dark. Grey is a prominent colour emphasising the darkness. The focus is also rather interesting in this video because as the camera angle tends to become a close up on Plan B in his cell, the camera goes slightly out of focus and this is one of the things I noticed in psychological horror/thriller films. This means the audience can't see clearly what is happening so they must use their imagination. There are also camera angles used in this video that could work well in our trailer, for example the close up of someones feet as they leave bloody footprints.

The lighting at the beginning of this video resembles the type of lighting technique we may use in our trailer. The lighting once again casts shadows. Because the light is fairly low key, the audience cannot see what is in the background, this could work to our advantage in a trailer. The lighting is not steady, and this can make the audience feel uneasy if shown with the right image.
